A "Local" pub is a meeting place, a home away from home. The word pub is actually an abbreviation of "public house." The first "public houses" were established as an extension of the living room.
It was a place where people could gather together. It was a place where "everybody knew your name" and people actually cared about what was going on in your life. Serving good and healthy beverages, the pub became a part of many peoples daily regimen. It became known as a place where families and friends gather together to talk and catch up on the day's events. A place where close friends meet, businessmen 'talk the talk' and many can just be themselves. A place where all your cares seemed to fade away.
The British Beer Company has carried on this tradition by creating a true British pub or "public house" atmosphere in its many establishments. Many residents consider The British Beer Company to be their "local."
It's true that a British pub can be many things to many people. To us it is a way of life. It is a place where good beer, great food, and friendly company soothe the soul. On any given day you can stroll into one of our British pubs and you will find a happy crowd. And you will soon find that we really are a British pub with an American address. We hope you'll want to visit us often and help us establish The British Beer Company as your "Local." Cheers!
